Are there bad cops in the US? Yes
But are there bad Clergy? Yes
Bad NFL Players? Yes
Bad People in Government? Yes
Bad People in Schools? Yes
Bad People in general? Yes
Does taking a knee or seat during the National Anthem stop any of them? No
So what is the point?
So the TV cameras will look at you when you do it. Congrats you just became an attention whore. Does it make of the people in the list above any better? No.
Professional athletes have ample opportunities to get in front of microphones to get their grievances out in the public forum, and the press is more than happy to play along. But does that help any of the people in the above list any better? No.
Give a professional athlete with a grievance time on a microphone, and the media gives them a ton of attention, but it does not solve a problem. On the other hand there are a lot of professional athletes who do great things and are involved in both their communities for the teams they play for, but for their hometowns as well. This is why the NFL has the Walter Peyton Award. A very worthy award for some great people doing good things.
But back to the attention whores, trying to stand up for what perceive to be a cause. I question just how many of these people have actually done any research about their causes? Those talking about police brutality, have they even been to a police station to ask questions? Have they asked for or did a ride along with an officer to get an idea about what real life situations can be? Have they been through any of the simulations with police where you have to make life or death decisions instantly? I honestly can say I have not heard of any. Again, will that make all cops absolutely perfect? Of course not, because there is no way to have perfection in any line of work because we are talking about people, and people are flawed.
But they still take a knee or sit during the National Anthem, honestly I put that right up there with flag burning. Yes it is completely legal to do that, and they have that right, but at the same time, can they really get mad if someone says what they are doing is wrong?
Now President Trump while speaking in Alabama last night trashed the players who took a knee and sat during the National Anthem, which is his absolute right to say. He is standing up for America, the country he was elected to serve. Now the press is trying to spin it that he told owners to fire anyone who sat or took a knee, but that is NOT what he said. Here is the direct quote, feel free to look it up on youtube if you do not believe me.
“You and I and everyone in this arena tonight are unified by the same great American values. We are proud of our country. We respect our flag. Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when someone disrespects our flag to say “get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s Fired!” You know some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say “that guy that disrespects our flag he’s fired” and that owner, they don’t know it, they don’t know, they are friends of mine, they will be the most popular person for a week, they will be the most popular person in this country, because that is a total disrespect of our heritage, that is a total disrespect of everything that we stand for. OK, everything that we stand for. And I know we have freedoms, we have freedoms of choice, and many many different freedoms, but you know what? It is still totally disrespectful and you know when the NFL ratings are down massively, massively, the NFL ratings are down massively. Now the number one reason happens to be that they like watching what’s happening on, you know, with yours truly. They like what’s happening.”
Now someone PLEASE tell me where he TOLD owners they had to fire anyone?
Exactly, you can’t!
Just as the players have the legal right to take a knee, the viewers have the right to not watch. The advertisers have the right to run ads or not. The networks have the right to stop carrying games or paying a lot less for them. This in turn drives down the salary cap, which means less money for the players, so what did they accomplish? Did it make any bad cops better people? Did it flip a light switch and everyone is exactly the same?
Reality check folks, no one on this planet will ever be the same. There is no system on the planet, either in use, or not that will bring 100% equality. Even in the Star Trek generation where they had no money, there were still ranks. You can not give everyone the same drive or incentive to try to succeed and better themselves, just like you can’t fix lazy if someone is happy being lazy. That is just the sad reality of things.
Are there bad cops, yes, are there bad people, yes, are there good cops, yes, are there good people yes. Can you change ANY of that, NO!
So please tell me what these so called protests, aka attention whore theater antics, going to fix? Nothing!
If you really do not like how police run things I have two options for you, why not apply to become one? Or how about next time you need security, you get robbed, beaten or worse, just don’t bother calling them, because hey you might just run into the bad one who is running in trying to save your asses. Those police that run into danger and not away from it. Are they all perfect, NO, but no one is, and never will be.
As always comments are welcome.
